Fostering independence, friendships, and experiences in daily life. DSANB provides funding for the Rec Life program through Lifehouse.
The Rec Life program meets 3 times a week in community with varied activities such as hikes, sports, dining, and interest-based field trips.
Monthly enrichment events offer dynamic movement and sports activity for the whole family -- from pool parties -- to dance parties -- and recreation for all ages.
Step Up for Down Syndrome is our yearly family picnic. This is a time for 300 to 500 people to come together in community and to celebrate the fact that Down Syndrome Awareness has affected so many of us in a positive way! We have nonprofits at our Resource Fair where parents can gather information from pertinent nonprofits that could help their family in many ways. We have a one-mile walk where all participants are celebrated. The highlight of day is our Talent Show!
Family Camp at Westminster Woods is our annual day in the woods. We have a new theme each year and activities are always full of fun! Families look forward to a low-ropes course, music, art, swimming, and a delicious lunch.
DSANB holds a Christmas Party at the Union Hotel, Occidental. In preparation for this meal we put together 50 bags for the homeless. Service is an integral part of what we do as a nonprofit… Our families can come together and give back to community in many ways.
Your contribution will allow us to continue to support new and expectant parents; expand parent support group activities; sponsor parent trainings; facilitate skill building opportunities; provide medical outreach and advocacy information to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
